Marketing Manager
On Thursday 30th October 2008, Home Base Expo conducted a “focus group” to gain an insight into people’s experiences when building with a builder.
The following is some advice offered by the focus group to future new homebuyers:
- Do your homework - researching your builder is critical, look at work they’ve completed, projects they have on the go and talk to people who have built with them before. Visit tradesmen onsite and ask what the supervisor is like, check out the environment for safety, organisation and quality of work (if it looks bad it will be).
- Look up internet forums - see where other people have gone wrong and at what stages to ensure you don’t make the same mistakes.
- Be prepared to spend a long time comparing different products to ensure you get what’s right for YOU.
- Communication is key - find a builder that will let you go onsite during the build so that if you see an error you can pick this up early before it becomes a major problem.
Further information will form part of the next New Homes Seminar scheduled for early 2009. |
